What Is It?

Russia has introduced a special program allowing foreign nationals from 47 countries to obtain a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) based on shared spiritual and moral values. This program, established by the Russian President’s Decree No. 702, waives two major requirements typically needed for residence permits— residential quotas and the exam in the Russian language, history and law.

What Should I Know About TRP?

How is a TRP (Temporary Residence Permit) confirmed?

TRP is confirmed by a special stamp in the national passport. Most nationalities also require a temporary residence visa of equal validity (3 years), which is used solely for crossing the Russian border.

Can I work legally in any Russian region with a TRP?

TRP holders can freely move throughout Russia (with some restricted regions requiring special permissions for foriegners) but must reside and work in one specific chosen by a TRP holder region.

Do I need to renew my registration every time I travel abroad or within Russia?

You can register a living address (house or apartment) without a need to renew residency registration each time you travel throughout the country or abroad.

Do I need a work permit or patent if I have a TRP?

TRP holders can work without a work permit or patent in the region of TRP issuance and can conduct business as an individual entrepreneur.

What types of medical care are available to TRP holders?

TRP holders are covered by Russian medical insurance, granting access to state medical institutions.
